DQI believes in architecture that values input from each member that is involved in a project. The ultimate goal is to bring the sum of all the dreams, expertise and skills to the next level…beyond what any one element could have created independently.

The Team
Without a doubt it is our experienced, skilled and cohesive team of professionals that has been the key to DQI’s portfolio of successful projects. Our group has been working together for many years and brings an extremely high skill set in each of their areas of expertise. Equally important, the DQI team works hard to create a positive, friendly and accommodating atmosphere throughout the project.

Jonathan Sprawson is the lead architectural designer. Jonathan attended University of Waterloo where he realized his childhood dream of becoming a graduate architect. The artistry that Jonathan brings to the design process is reflected in his beautiful hand drawn design and renderings. Jonathan grew up working on construction sites where he developed a unique expertise and appreciation for architecture that considers the building process. Jonathan has a wonderful ability to view the world in a different way from most people, allowing him to deliver a solution to a client’s goal, which is often fresh and unexpected. Recurring themes in Jonathan’s designs of windows and trees reflects his love and respect for the environment we live in. Jonathan is an avid cyclist, sailor and hockey player. In addition, Jonathan is the co-founder of Volunteer Builders, an organization that designs and builds with volunteers for a different children’s camp each year.

Services
Design
DQI provides design services to develop a unique and creative solution to your project. Within the design process DQI is efficient and experienced in the many steps that may be included in the design. Among others, these steps could include pre-purchase property assessment, zoning checks, zoning by-law amendment applications, site plan approval applications, minor variance applications, consent to sever applications, working drawings, permit acquisition, and dealing with conservation authorities and heritage planning.
Design/build
In addition to our Design Services, DQI offers our clients the option of also having our team complete the construction phase. DQI extends beyond the design phase to be able to seamlessly take your dream from paper to reality. We have a team of trades and suppliers that work with our experienced DQI Project Manager and Interiors Team to build a high quality, custom home. Organizing and actually building a home can be an arduous task, but our team works with you through the entire project. The Project Manager will schedule and supervise the site and the trades in order to keep the project safe and moving as efficiently as possible. Our in-house design team for both interior finishes, landscaping and exterior finishes will work with you to ensure the finishes and style of your home match your needs and tastes. Effective communication is one of the most important elements of a construction project. Over the course of the project, the DQI team provides a weekly summary of scheduled tasks in order to keep the client fully aware of project progress. As the construction phase progresses, site visits and consultations with Jonathan ensure that the construction team incorporates any further customization of the plans into a truly spectacular finished project…your new home.
